With a small number of instruments and a very straightforward line of composition, this song manages to be perfect in a very simple manner. The variations in the lead vocals are soft and subtle, yet they manage to make a difference in the overall experience of the piece. Inspite of this, the song stands its own in that its lyrics are a breathtaking picture of longing. This song is very similar in its basic composition to Nindiya Re with Jaffer exploiting the familiar lilting quality of his voice to the most, once again. The song closes with the tempo slowing down and light strums on the guitar, with the lullaby ending peacefully, almost like a mother putting the baby to sleep. The female backing vocals and the lead vocals strike the perfect balance to create a purple atmosphere of calm and quiet. All the elements blend together perfectly and the coke studio version’s video shows that perfectly. There are songs in which you can dissect each and every instrument and the various pieces of vocals. There are parts in the song in which the guitar and the violin make serenity almost tangible. In the telefilm, the song is the embodiment of motherly love, not a very far off interpretation of its sleep inducing music. I want to talk about a few songs which stand out in Kaavish’s discography and manage to leave a calming imprint on the eardrums.įeatured in the Pakistani telefilm, Behadd, this is probably the most perfect lullaby I have ever heard. Their compositions are a refreshing change from the humdrum of Bollywood music and anyone who listens to music to relax their brain nerves should definitely give them a listen. What’s more, coupled with the brilliant lyrics and the perfect tempo created by the multitude of instruments in their songs, Kaavish, unlike the meaning of their name, does not struggle at all in creating a riveting piece of music, almost every time. Jaffer’s voice has a lilting quality to it, so strong that it manages to take you to a whole other world. But Gunkali, their first album has helped them garner quite a lot of praise from some big names in the industry. Up until their debut album, their music was not very mainstream and most of their songs gained fame through features in Pakistani television series or other media. Their music is primarily contemporary classical and has a soothing soulfulness to it. The band consists of two members, Jaffer Zaidi on lead vocals and Pianist Maaz Maudood who is the guitarist and also gives backing vocals. Another pair of music maestros from Pakistan, Kaavish is a band with a very fresh flavor of music.
